A Fulani socio-cultural organisation called Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore claims that many of its members are arbitrarily detained and imprisoned across the country.
Alhaji Abdullahi Bodejo, the association’s national president, said this on Monday during the organization’s annual general meeting, which was held in Nasarawa State’s Karu Local Government Area.
He claims that since they are Fulanis, livestock herders are subject to great prejudice.
In order to resolve the situation and release its members, the group assembled a 55-man legal team.
Bodejo ordered the federal government to move more quickly to release its members who had been wrongfully detained around the country.
“Many of our people are being held in prisons around the country for unfair reasons. Simply because they are pastoring close to grazing areas, they are frequently detained and imprisoned.
Others were detained solely on the grounds that they were Fulani.
“The situation has been extremely concerning; as a result, we decided to form the 55-man legal team to assist us in fighting for the rights of our people, particularly the innocent ones, to receive justice,” he stated.
