Maiga Iliyasu, a 35-year-old businessman, appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for an alleged N2,319,500 fraud.
Iliyasu entered a not guilty plea to two counts of fraud and theft, however his address was withheld.

The defendant committed the offences on November 15, at 6:45 p.m., at the Agbalata International Market in Badagry, Lagos State, according to the police prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, who testified in court.
Okuoimose claimed that Mohammed Shamumu, the complainant, had unlawfully acquired N2.3 million from the defendant under the false pretence that he would be buying a truckload of coconuts, which he never did.
He claimed that without the complainant’s permission, Iliyasu changed the funds for his own use.
According to Okuoimose, the acts violated Sections 314 and 287 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Laws.
Mr. Fadahunsi Adefioye, the Chief Magistrate, granted the accused N500,000 bail along with two sureties in the same amount.
According to him, the sureties have to be law-abiding inhabitants of Lagos State who work for a living in a respectable business or government agency.
Adefioye postponed the case’s mention until December 19. (NAN)
