After the counsel for the parties adopted their argument papers and presented their closing arguments on Monday, a seven-member panel of the court presided over by Justice Inyang Okoro issued this announcement.
In the appeal brought by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Court that upheld President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election, the Supreme Court has deferred judgement.
It also rejected the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and reserved judgement on the Labour Party’s (LP) appeal.
After the parties’ solicitors adopted their rebuttal briefs and presented their closing arguments on Monday, a seven-member court panel presided over by Justice Inyang Okoro made the announcement.
On the motion submitted by Atiku to present new evidence regarding fabricated documents, the supreme court also heard arguments from solicitors for the parties.

Atiku Abubakar’s attorney, sir Chris Uche, pleaded with the court to approve the motion, let their appeal, grant the requested pleas, and disqualify Tinubu.
Abubakar Mahmoud for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Wole Olanipekun for President Tinubu, and Akin Olujinmi for the All Progressives Congress (APC) all spoke on behalf of the respondents and urged the court to reject the motion and appeal as meritless.
The court heard the APM’s appeal when it met once more. The party was advised to drop their appeal since it lacked prayers for resolution.
Machukwu Umeh, the APM’s attorney, later withdrew his appeal.
The withdrawal was not opposed by the respondents. The appeal was subsequently rejected by the supreme court.
