A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, has confirmed that nine individuals believed to be part of a kidnapping gang have been apprehended.

These suspects were reportedly causing terror in the Lekki-Ajah area of Lagos State. The operation to arrest them was carried out by mobile policemen from MOPOL 20, Ikeja, and the Maroko Police Division.
The arrest came after a lengthy shootout that took place near one of the suspects’ hideouts in the Lekki-Ajah region.
According to Adejobi, the suspects were members of a well-known kidnapping gang that had been operating in the area.
The arrest was made in response to numerous complaints from the public regarding the increasing incidents of kidnapping along the Lekki-Ajah axis.
During the raid, law enforcement officials recovered three Point of Sale (POS) machines, which were allegedly used for collecting ransom money, as well as 10 mobile phones. Adejobi highlighted that the operation had achieved significant success in recent weeks.
In a specific incident on March 17, 2024, the Commander of PMF 20, Ikeja, led a joint team of mobile policemen and officers from Maroko Division to a suspected den of kidnappers.
As a result, nine suspects were arrested, three victims were rescued, and additional mobile phones and POS machines were seized.
The Force spokesperson also mentioned another arrest that took place on March 16, 2024.
Police operatives from the Badagry Divisional Headquarters apprehended a suspect named Abass, who is believed to be the leader of a cult gang involved in the shooting of Adeniyi Adebanjo on February 26, 2024.
Upon his arrest, Abass confessed to the crime and admitted to being the leader of a six-man cult gang operating in the Badagry area of Lagos State.
