In order to keep Nigeria united for economic progress, Mr. Abido Jator, newly elected Nigeria’s representative, Sub Saharan Africa Jewish Alliance (SAJA), says he will cooperate with the Federal Government.
This was said by Jator on Wednesday in Abuja. He is a well-known member of the Jewish community and a supporter of environmental rights.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Jator, also known as Yatov Ben Yisrael, won the election to represent Nigeria on the SAJA Governing Board on December 18 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, with nine votes.
Three votes were cast for his rival.
In order to make Nigeria a country where all religious and ethnic groups may live in harmony for economic progress, he pledged to work with the Nigerian government and security forces.
Jator urged the Nigerian Jewish community to get involved in politics so that their voices and goals would be acknowledged, especially as the 2023 general elections came near.
Every Nigerian citizen has the right to freedom of association, and it will be unfair if the country’s Jewish communities continue to be underrepresented in its politics and administration.
“I therefore urge the Jewish community to mobilize in large numbers to assure recognition, safety, and freedom of worship, as well as to ensure that their votes count.”
“There are more than 80 Orthodox Jewish groups operating independently in Nigeria alone.”
Lessons from the meeting will undoubtedly improve our collective worship and social lives, he said. (NAN)
