The state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti, Paul Omotosho, was kidnapped by gunmen who are thought to be kidnappers.
The APC chairman was reportedly abducted on Saturday night along the Agbado-Imesi-Ekiti road in the Gbonyin Local Government Area of the State, according to Sunday Tribune, despite the fact that details of the incident are still hazy.
Omotosho, who is from Imesi-Ekiti, was traveling alone to his home town when the gunmen assaulted his vehicle with random gunshots before robbing him. This information was provided to our correspondent by a trustworthy source who confirmed the incident.
The insider claimed, “The chairman still contacted me this morning (Saturday) and we spoke at length. From what we learned, he actually came to Ado-Ekiti to drop off his driver and was traveling alone back to his hometown when the kidnappers opened fire on his car and punctured his tires.
I currently only know that they drove him from the event, which took place along the Agbado-Imesi-Ekiti road, to a woodland near Ise-Ekiti.
“The governor, Biodun Oyebanji, is aware of the circumstance and has taken immediate action to secure the party chairman’s release.”
When reached on Saturday evening, Segun Dipe, the state’s APC press secretary, confirmed the party chairman had been kidnapped.
Yes, my brother, our chairman has been abducted, and we’re already working with the police to secure his release.
As of the time of publication, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Sunday Abutu, had not responded to our correspondent after first claiming not to be aware of the occurrence.
