The flag that an Argentine fan was wearing across his shoulders became tangled in his motorcycle, causing him to suffocate to death.
Locally known as Sebastian Oscar Maciel, the 22-year-old died instantly after unintentionally depriving himself of oxygen.
Around 400 miles south of the Argentine capital, in the city of Bahia Blanca in the province of Buenos Aires, he fell to the ground on Sunday while celebrating Argentina’s World Cup victory.
The man was on a Honda XR 150cc motorcycle when the tragedy happened.
“The man appears to have perished when an Argentinian flag he was wearing draped around his neck like a cape got caught in one of the motorbike’s wheels and suffocated him to death,” a police source told a local newspaper.
The flag was around his neck when many witnesses noticed him falling to the ground.
Even though the investigation is still going on, the main idea is that he died of suffocation.
