In response to Seun Kuti’s assault on a police officer, public affairs analyst Deji Adeyanju has pleaded with the authorities to refrain from slapping the Afrobeat musician.
On Saturday, Kuti could be seen slapping a police officer in a viral video for unspecified reasons.
After receiving an arrest warrant from Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, he presented himself in at the Lagos State Police Headquarters in Ikeja on Monday morning.
The officers then grabbed him barefoot and put him in handcuffs.
Adeyanju reacted by pleading with the police not to punish Kuti in the same manner as the officer he assaulted on the road, asking that the proper course of action be taken in the matter.
In light of Seun Kuti’s voluntary surrender, the police have imprisoned him. I implore them not to torture or retaliate by giving him the finger. On his Facebook page, he argued that “our country ought to be one where the right thing is always done.”
Kuti was chastised by Adeyanju for his inability to control his wrath, telling him: “People who don’t learn to control their anger will end up like Seun Kuti with regrets.”
May your temper or rage not rule you, he begged.
Adeyanju asks the cops not to strike Seun Kuti after he has been detained.
