Obiageli Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education, has sought an immediate reaction from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in response to a document circulating online addressing the recent EndSARS demonstration.

According to the paper, Sanwo-Olu approved the mass burial of 103 protesters who were allegedly slain by joint troops of the Nigerian Army and the police during the #EndSARS major protest against police brutality in October 2020.

The paper, which has gone viral online, appeared almost three years after the government disputed the barbaric massacre of unarmed protestors waving the Nigerian flag and screaming the national song at the Lekki toll gate when the military allegedly opened fire on them.

In a series of tweets on Sunday, the former Minister questioned whether the Governor was aware that the state has a record of 103 dead bodies from the EndSARS shootings, demanding an immediate answer.

In a second statement, Ezekwesili said that the nation’s public officials have degraded the dignity of human life to zero, calling it the “worst thing they have done to the citizen.”

She also expressed concern about the number of probes that voters would expect rational governments to initiate at all levels of government in the foreseeable future.

“Mr Governor of @followlasg, @jidesanwoolu, here is a document that has gone viral on social media stating that your government procured services for mass burial of 103 bodies killed during the #EndSARS protest?” she wrote.

“Is this correct?

“Did Mr Governor know the state had a total of 103 dead bodies from the #EndSARS shootings?”

“We require your prompt response.”

“I often shudder at the sheer number of inquisitions that citizens would expect sensible governments at the federal and state levels to launch all over this country in the good future.”

“The most heinous thing Nigeria’s version of public leaders has done to citizens is to reduce the dignity of human life to ZERO.” They will undoubtedly account eventually… if not on earth, then in paradise before the Creator of Life.”
