Peter Nweke, the PDP’s chairman in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has passed away.
He passed away as a result of wounds he received from hoodlum attacks on the day of the gubernatorial and Assembly elections.
According to Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the public relations officer for the Ebonyi State Police, who verified Nweke’s passing, the PDP chairman was assaulted by thugs before being taken unconscious to the hospital, where a doctor subsequently declared him dead.
According to Onome, the police have opened a probe into the death with the goal of apprehending and prosecuting the attackers.
Samson Nweke, Nweke’s younger brother, also commented on the event, claiming that on Saturday, thugs assaulted his brother till he fell into a coma.
He said the thugs with AK-47 riffles attacked his voting unit booth 10, Ogboji ward, Ezza North LGA of Ebonyi State.

He revealed that the goons encircled him, his brother, and other people after arriving in two Carter motorbikes.
Samson disclosed that his brother had cautioned him after learning that the two of them were targets for eradication.
“Brother Peter visited me in Abakaliki two weeks ago. He met my wife even though I wasn’t at home. He instructed my wife to warn me to use extreme caution.
He said that a particular political party had targeted some members of our neighbourhood for eviction on or before election day. He claimed that he is at the top of the list, followed by myself and three other people.
“That happened to us today. Fortunately, I made it through, but my brother did not. At my voting location, they murdered him.
I wish today wouldn’t exist. How I wish the 18th of March 2023 never existed. Bro. Peter would not have passed away. A young man with so much potential,” he remarked.
