Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has proclaimed the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ogun State to be free and fair.
After casting his ballot in Abeokuta, Obasanjo spoke with journalists and shared his opinions.
The former president expressed pleasure with the calm and orderly conduct of the election when he cast his ballot at around 10.32am in Ward 11, Polling Unit 22, Olushomi Compound, in the Sokori neighbourhood of Abeokuta-North.
“I think we’re passing it in our country’s elections,” he remarked.
“There are things that can be seen that are promising and provide optimism for the future in terms of the election because there are improvements.

“When I entered, I was checked. After being instructed to take off my spectacles, the device was held up in front of my face, displaying an image of me.
“That’s a novel one, and if it spreads across the nation, I think we’re moving in the right direction.
“Everything that increases the legitimacy, integrity, and transparency of the democratic process should be encouraged and supported since it is the first step towards good governance in any nation,” says one.
