The Plateau State Police Command announced on Thursday that it had freed six citizens from the lair of kidnappers and had also driven out a group of well-known state criminals.

In the state capital of Jos, the Command made this announcement through DSP Alfred Alabo, its public relations officer.

Nevertheless, he reported that Nuhu Titus, a hunter who supported the security forces during the rescue effort, perished during the operation.

He declared: “The Plateau State Police Command has pursued a group of infamous kidnappers to their den, driven them out, freed six abducted victims, and shot one kidnapper in its ceaseless attempts to eradicate criminal elements in the State.

In his words, “On November 1, 2023, at approximately 6:00 a.m., in response to credible reports of a horrific abduction incident, the Divisional Police Officer of Jengre led a combined team of combat-ready police officers, STF, and Security Help Groups to the abductors’ camp. The abductors had forcedfully abducted some local residents from Gwalada village in Toro LGA of Bauchi State, and taken them to a rocky forest between Tumu, Tsaya, and Rumfar Gomna in Bassa LGA.

“The kidnappers engaged in gunfire with the security personnel upon spotting them, but the security personnel’s superior firepower eventually subdued them.”

“Yet, six victims—Mummi Usman, Ibrahim Isa, Ya’u Yahaya, Bala Aminu, and Alh. Ishaku Usman—all of Gwalfada, Toro LGA, Bauchi, were saved from the operation, while one of the kidnappers was shot and his accomplices fled with varying degrees of bullet wounds.

Sadly, however, one Nuhu Titus, a hunter who supported the security in the rescue effort, passed away.

He said that more work is being done to apprehend the escaping culprits and free the remaining kidnap victims.

“Plateau citizens are reassured by CP Okoro J. Alawari, Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Police Command, on the police’s commitment to combating crime and criminality in the state.

“He pledges to use every effort to guarantee that all 17 Local Government Areas remain safe for all state residents.

Before the Police could capture kidnappers, the CP issued a warning, urging them to either desist from their heinous actions or leave Plateau State.
