Peter Obi, who is running for president for the Labour Party, says that only leaders who can identify the country’s problems can lead the people to the new Nigeria they want.

At a town hall meeting held at the University of Abuja on Friday, he made this statement to the students present.

“Leaders who recognize the nature of the issue will enable the emergence of a new Nigeria; I can promise you that.” The upcoming election shouldn’t be dependent on ethnicity. Tell him that the North is home to the poorest people if someone from the North asks for your vote on the basis of your Northness.

“They haven’t fixed it in years, and it’s actually insecure.” Since then, they have voted North, but what have they done? They rode to power on the scandals. The same can be said for the South-East; there are impoverished people everywhere. So please understand that this has nothing to do with ethnicity.

The Labour Party’s candidate for president said that nine of the ten poorest states in the country were in the north, even though Nigeria had a lot of fertile land that could feed the whole country and also be used to sell agricultural goods abroad to make money.

Obi’s group also includes the national chairman of the party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Julius Abure, Valentine Ozigbo, and Ambassador Joe Keshi.
