The request follows a resolution of urgent public significance made on Tuesday by the member of parliament for Lokoja I State Constituency, Hon. Bin Ebaiya Shehu Tijani.

Shehu bemoaned the shocking instances of male organ theft that were being committed using magical abilities and superstitious embodiment.

The new congressman expressed concern over the unfortunate situation and informed his colleagues that false accusations and true theft have been documented, and that false accusation victims are increasingly being executed.

“We are troubled by the claim of innocence in some situations, particularly the example of the okada man whose passenger cried and accused the rider of organ theft and was promptly killed without further examination at Felele by onlookers, and such other incidents are grave causes for concern.

We are also aware that not many people were apprehended and had made their offences public. Only a few others were charged with similar offences and are currently being tried. However, the number of organ theft instances is rising every day.

Shehu stated that the justification for legislative involvement should be the beating, maiming, and lynching of innocent people for crimes they did not commit.

In supporting the motion, the Kabba/Bunu Deputy Chief Whip Hon. Bello Oluwaseyi said that Kogi State has seen a surge in organ theft instances over the past week and urged the government and security agencies to take aggressive measures to prevent a crisis.

Rt. Hon. Umar Aliyu, speaker of the house, urged security organisations to play their part to uphold law and order in Kogi State to prevent mayhem.

Meanwhile, the nominations of Hon. Yahaya Ade Ismail and Barr. Alfred Bello for the positions of commissioner and board member of the Kogi State House of Assembly Service Commission, respectively, have been approved by the house.
