Seven persons are said to have been killed by gunmen who assaulted two settlements in Plateau State and are thought to be bandits.

It was said that the victims, who were ambushed by attackers in the Mangu Local Government Area of the state in the towns of Pukah and Pinper, died early on Thursday.

The gunmen stole sheep and other domestic animals from the Pinper settlement while killing six men and a woman in the Pukah hamlet.

Mark stated, “Early this morning (Thursday), gunmen launched a significant attack against the Pukah community in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. They also assaulted Pinper, a different village in the council area.

Six men and one woman were killed in the Pukah village. However, they removed a sizable number of sheep from Pinper before leaving the villages.

Security personnel have been notified of the event, according to Mark, who denounced the act.

Captain Oya James, the spokesperson for the Military Taskforce tasked with upholding peace in the state, promised to comment to our correspondent on the attack when he was reached, but as of the time this report was filed, he had not done so.

Remember that just hours after the state government trained 600 people for the state-owned security force known as Operation Rainbow, seven people were shot and killed by gunmen in the Mangu neighbourhood.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting state-owned security units during their passing out parade in Jos on Wednesday. He said that the revitalization of the unit came at a good time, as the state needed to consolidate its achievements in addressing security issues that had plagued the region for years.

He charged the operatives to give their fair share to the efforts to protect residents’ lives and property, and warned them that his administration would not tolerate indiscipline or unprofessional behaviour.
