President Bola Tinubu has made a significant announcement regarding the welfare of the families of Army personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty at Okuama community in Delta State.

During the funeral ceremony held at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, the President revealed that the federal government will provide scholarships to the university level for all the children, including those yet to be born, of the fallen soldiers.
Additionally, he directed the military authorities to ensure that the benefits entitled to the deceased personnel are paid to their families within a period of 90 days.
In a further display of support and gratitude, President Tinubu declared that each family of the four officers and thirteen soldiers would be provided with a house anywhere in the country.
This gesture aims to alleviate the burden faced by the families and provide them with a stable and secure living environment.
The announcement was made during a solemn event attended by several Governors, military officials, and the families of the fallen heroes.
As a mark of respect and recognition for their sacrifice, the President posthumously bestowed National Honours on the 17 fallen heroes.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, explained that Lt Col Ali, Major D.E Obi, Major S.D. Ashafa, and Captain U. Zakari were honored with the award of Member of the Order of Niger (MON).
This prestigious recognition highlights their exceptional service and dedication to their country.
Furthermore, Staff Sergeant Yahaya Saidu, Corporal Danbaba Yahaya, Corporal Kabir Bashir, Lance Corporals Abdullahi Ibrahim, Bulus Haruna, Sole Opeyemi, Bello Anas, Private Alhaji Isah, Clement Francis, Abubakar Ali, Adamu Ibrahim, Hamman Peter, and Ibrahim Adamu were awarded the honor of the Federal Republic Medals.
This recognition serves as a testament to their bravery and commitment to upholding peace and security in the nation.
It is important to note the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. On the 14th of March, Lt. Colonel A. H. Ali, the Commanding Officer of 181 Amphibious Battalion, along with three other officers and 13 soldiers, embarked on a mission to mediate in a long-standing dispute between the Okuama and Okoloba communities.
