The grand finale of the 4th Michael & Felicia Alabi Memorial National Table Tennis Championships will have the honor of hosting Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as a special guest, marking the end of the five-day competition in Otan Ayegbaju, Osun State.

This year’s event, a Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) ranking competition, saw a remarkable turnout with participants from 28 states vying for victory in 14 different events.

The dominance of Ogun, Lagos, and Kwara in most of the events throughout the championship has been notable, with Ondo State striving to catch up with the top three states.

Governor Adeleke, who graced the grand finale in 2023, is expected to attend this year’s event as well, showcasing his ongoing commitment to supporting the organizers and emphasizing the state government’s dedication to sports development.

In addition to his presence at the finale, Governor Adeleke will also have the privilege of commissioning the state-of-the-art Allykay accommodation facility constructed by Ayodeji Alabi, the chairman of OSTTA and a key sponsor of the national competition for the past four years.

With defending champions absent, the men’s and women’s singles categories are set to witness new titleholders battling it out for the cash prize and valuable ranking points in an intense competition.

The women’s singles final will feature a showdown between Bose Odusanya of Lagos and Sukurat Aiyelabegan, while the men’s singles final will see the winner between Jamiu Ayanwale of Rivers and Alaba Olanlege of Gombe facing off against the victor between Joshua Oladiran of Ondo and Wasiu Azeez of Oyo.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ U-15 category, defending champion Victor Joseph of Kogi was defeated by Joseph Marvelous of Delta, setting up an exciting final against Kwara’s Hussein Faruq.

The girls’ singles final will see top seed Favour Ojo of Ondo competing against Ese Onakpoberuo of Delta for the coveted title.
