Tobi Amusan, the defending champion, has expressed her satisfaction after making it to the semifinals of the women’s 100-meter hurdles on Tuesday in Budapest.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, Amusan won her preliminary heat in the women’s 100-meter hurdles to advance to the semifinals.
The 26-year-old, whose world record is 12.12, took a while to get going before gliding to the third-fastest time of the evening with a time of 12.48 seconds.
She commented after the race, “I’m really grateful I’m here in Budapest and can race, using my talent.
Although it hasn’t been the best, I am still here. Through the uncertainty, I made an effort to maintain my composure and follow my coach’s instructions. So, I’m here.
Many people were surprised to see Amusan at the international event as her suspension had been lifted just two days earlier.
On Thursday, the Nigerian track star’s temporary anti-doping ban was lifted.
Amusan could still lose an appeal, which would likely result in the suspension being reinstated.
Amusan received a provisional suspension from the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) in July as a result of three whereabouts failures over a 12-month period.
