6 dead after shooting at Nashville elementary school

The gunman who killed three children and three adults at a Christian elementary school in Tennessee, in the south of the United States, was under observation before to the incident, according to police.

According to Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief John Drake, the gunman, who was fatally shot by police, had made a precise plan of the school that included possible entrance sites.

He named the shooter as Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old former pupil at the institution. Investigators are looking through Hale’s “manifesto” and other documents that he left behind, according to Drake.

According to police spokesperson Don Aaron, the gunman was carrying a pistol and at least two semi-automatic weapons.

According to him, reports reporting a shooter at Nashville’s The Covenant School, a private Presbyterian school, started coming in at 10:13 a.m.

According to Aaron, when police came on the site they could hear gunfire coming from the second story of the school.

He stated that Hale was killed around 10:27 a.m. when two of the five cops on the squad shot the shooter in a lobby.

Three students, who were all 8 or 9 years old, and three adult staff members were listed as the victims by the police. They claimed that nobody else was shot but those six persons.

The other students were led by police to a neighbouring church, where parents were instructed to assemble.

According to their website, The Covenant School has 200 students in pre-school through sixth grade.

Other deadly school shootings in the US include a 2018 high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, which left 17 people dead; a 2012 assault at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, which left 26 people dead; and a 1999 shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado, which resulted in the deaths of 13.
