Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State and vice presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has revealed that Atiku Abubarkar, the party’s presidential candidate, will meet with the G-5 Governors to resolve the conflicting issues that have persisted within the party following their primaries.

Senator Okowa refuted assertions that the party had decided to push forward with the 2023 presidential election despite the G-5 Integrity Governors, led by Gov. Nyesome Wike.

Okowa announced this on Wednesday in Yenagoa following a meeting of the South-South Governors Forum with Governors Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, and the host Governor, Senator Douye Diri. Okowa also stated that the PDP will soon resolve all issues and will not permit the G-5 Governors to leave the party.

The allegation that the Party would replace the G-5 Governors is categorically untrue, according to Governor Okowa.
They are a member of our family, and if there are problems, I think they are being addressed.

The presidential candidate will meet with the governors very soon.
We won’t let them leave since they are a member of the family.
Naturally, a lot of efforts are being made to bring all parties together and work as a team.

Nyesome Wike, the governor of Rivers State and the head of the G-5 Governors, was noticeably missing.

The governors’ visit was intended to express sympathy to Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa State on the recent flood calamity in that state, according to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Okowa’s presidential campaigns were discussed during the meeting, according to Obaseki, who also reiterated their unwavering support for the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates.

He declared, “We are here to reassure them that we are with them and to provide them with all the support needed, including potentially reaching out to our other brothers in the zone to settle any differences we may have so that we can go into the next year’s elections as one strong, united zone and party.”

Governor Douye Diri praised the South-South Governors in his remarks for demonstrating a strong feeling of solidarity and camaraderie amid crises like the recent flood calamity that devastated the state.

Regarding the PDP problem, Governor Diri remarked that despite the seeming disagreement, the South-South Governors remain together and gave the assurance that it will be handled quickly.

“We are a unit. Families frequently have disagreements. However, the disagreement won’t keep us apart. We shall settle any disagreements and carry on as a unit. No other party can compete in the South-South, which is a PDP territory. I can tell you that the PDP will win the upcoming elections on every front.
