Bode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has revealed that the party is actively engaged in the process of reconciling its members, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

George emphasized that the PDP is committed to avoiding any confrontations and is determined to reconcile all aggrieved members within its ranks.

The strained relationship between Wike and the PDP hierarchy emerged during the 2023 presidential election. Wike and his G-5 group decided to support other presidential candidates instead of the PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

This decision by Wike caused a significant division within the party, particularly due to his insistence on a Southern candidate, which ultimately led to the removal of the former National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

However, George assured that the PDP is actively working towards resolving the rift that emerged from the last general election.

He highlighted the fact that Wike, despite serving under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, attended the PDP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

George mentioned the existence of a standing committee that will be expanded to conduct a thorough analysis of the situation.

George emphasized that the party does not intend to engage in a blame game or target specific individuals who may still harbor grievances from the past. Instead, the PDP aims to move forward as a united entity. He stressed that the internal issues within the party should be resolved internally, rather than in the public domain. George concluded by affirming the PDP’s commitment to resolving its internal matters in a manner befitting of a family.
