On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron shared friendly exchanges in Pidgin English on social media.
Tinubu is presently in France, having arrived in the European country on Wednesday evening for an official state visit.
The two leaders met on Thursday, and during the meeting, Macron reminisced about his time as an intern at the French embassy in Nigeria.
In a post written in Pidgin English on his X handle, Macron expressed gratitude to Tinubu for his visit.
It is a great honor for France, dear President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT, to welcome you on this state visit as a significant partner and friend now and in the future.
“Even now, I still fondly remember being a young intern at the French Embassy in Nigeria,” Macron wrote.
In response, Tinubu expressed his gratitude to Macron in French and remarked that the chance to enhance bilateral relations is exciting.
Continuing his message in Pidgin, the Nigerian leader emphasized to the French president how important it is to build a partnership based on mutual respect and equality.
