Nigerian artist Spyro opens up about his philanthropic efforts, disclosing that he spends N15 million annually on supporting beggars in a recent interview.

Afrobeats artist Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, widely recognized as Spyro, has disclosed that he allocates more than N15 million each year to assist beggars.

The singer of “Who’s Your Guy” shared this information while expressing his frustration over the relentless pressure he faces to help fans.

He disclosed that individuals seek his help both online and in person without returning the favor.

Even with his frequent acts of kindness, Spyro remembered a painful incident where someone insulted him just because he couldn’t give money at that time.

On his Instagram page, he expressed how challenging it is to be a celebrity in Lagos. He mentioned telling someone that he didn’t have anything at the moment and would catch up with them the next day, only to receive insults in return. Every time he leaves his house, he’s compelled to spend at least N100k on gifts. If you calculate this based on going out three times a week, that’s around N300k weekly or approximately N1.2 million monthly—totaling about N15 million annually! Kilode (meaning “why” or expressing exasperation)!
