The Super Eagles’ triumph in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarterfinals was attributed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to President Bola Tinubu’s “renewed hope agenda.”
The NFF president, Ibrahim Gusau, made this statement on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abidjan.

According to NAN, the Super Eagles defeated giant-killers Angola 1-0 on Friday in Abidjan, forcing them into the AFCON semi-finals.

This came after Moses Simon provided a superb assist, sneaking in a pass that allowed Ademola Lookman to score Nigeria’s lone goal in the 41st minute with ease past custodian Guilherme da Costa.

Gusau thanked President Tinubu for his assistance to the Super Eagles.

He said that the president’s unwavering support for the club demonstrated his dedication to the advancement of sports, particularly football.

“What he said, you heard. “Boys go there, believe in me,” he exclaimed.

“Just believe in me, no matter what problems you are facing, you don’t have any.” Do the task, and you will observe the outcome.

He instructed them precisely that, and you can see them carrying out his instructions.

“With God’s favour, I am confident that he will lavishly reward them, something that has never occurred in Nigerian history.

“We are going to fulfil our promise to him and give him the trophy, with God’s grace,” he declared.

The head of the NFF urged all Nigerians to keep rooting for the team.

“With two games remaining, with God’s blessing, we will carry on with our current course of action.

We want everyone in Nigeria to pray for us, as we believe that prayer is the foundation of all we do.

Therefore, he stated, “we call on all Nigerians to continue to support us with prayers and by God’s grace.”

NFF Executive Board member Aisha Falode stated that the organisation was operating in accordance with President Tinubu’s directive, which was for them to go win the cup for Nigeria.

“Go win the cup for Nigeria is our mandate, and we are well on our way to fulfilling it.

It’s a catchphrase for revitalised hope.

“A revitalised Super Eagles for a revitalised Nigeria with a single goal: returning the 2023 AFCON trophy to Nigeria so that Nigerians can rejoice.”
