Sowore Slams EFCC for Concealing Owner of 753 Duplexes, Accuses Agency of Aiding Corruption

Activist Omoyele Sowore criticizes the EFCC for allegedly shielding the identity of the owner of 753 seized duplexes, accusing the agency of public relations for corrupt individuals.

Omoyele Sowore, the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for failing to reveal the identity of a supposed ex-government official who owned 753 duplexes in Abuja that were forfeited.

recalls that on Monday, the anti-graft agency announced that Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court had forfeited an estate in Abuja to the government. This estate spans 150,500 square meters and includes approximately 753 duplexes and other apartments.

The commission stated that the seized property marks the largest asset recovery since it began operations in 2003.

The EFCC stated that the estate situated on Plot 109 Cadastral Zone C09 in Lokogoma District, Abuja, was owned by an unnamed government official.

In response, Sowore criticized the commission on his official Facebook page for concealing the identity of the property owner.

He asked, “Who is the ‘former top brass’ whose 753 duplexes were seized by the EFCC in Abuja?”

The @officialEFCC is now engaging in public relations for alleged criminals. They have confiscated a massive estate with 753 duplexes from one person in Abuja, yet they refuse to disclose the individual’s name.

“If it’s scam artists, they’ll often display laptops and Nokia phones in front of them and distribute their photos worldwide even before their trial begins. However, the same EFCC now seems intimidated by major criminals!”
