Afrobeats star Timaya has stated that veteran singer Eedris Abdulkareem lacks respect in the music industry due to his talkative nature.

In a recent interview with Naija FM in Lagos, Timaya dismissed the host’s attempt to draw comparisons between his personality and that of Abdulkareem.

The host remarked, “You and Eedris Abdulkareem are considered two of the artists that people generally fear confronting.”

Timaya suggested, “I don’t speak or act like Eedris. Nobody is intimidated by him because he talks excessively; he’s always been quite the talker.”

“I don’t want others to fear me. I value myself and aim for mutual respect with others.”

Regarding his relationship with Eedris Abdulkareem, he mentioned, “I never had any issues with Eedris. It was simply a boss-apprentice dynamic. I doubt he even knew my name back then. I only acknowledged him because he played a role in my success story. We have no reason to stay in touch now. While I was part of his band, there wasn’t an opportunity for us to develop a personal connection. When people are working under you, it’s important not just to tolerate them but treat them like family – after all, you never know what the future holds.”
