A sociopolitical organisation called Us4Us Movement has lobbied the All Progressive Congress (APC) national leadership to endorse Sen. Godswill Akpabio in his bid to become the 10th Senate President.
During an emergency meeting of the group conducted on Sunday in Calabar, Mr. Richard Romanus, its convener, made the announcement during a conversation with reporters.
Romanus said that because Akpabio had made significant political sacrifices for the party, he ought to be honoured and given support for the job of 10th President of the Senate.
He clarified that youthful political activists from all of Nigeria’s major parties make up the Us4Us Movement.
He claims that the group’s only purpose is to promote young people’s sociopolitical wellness and promote good governance in Nigeria.
Sen. Akpabio “should be paid given the enormous sacrifices he made for the party and for renunciating his presidential aspirations unreservedly in favour of Sen. Bola Tinubu.
“His resignation significantly contributed to Sen. Tinubu’s smooth win at the APC’s national conference.
Moreover, we are aware that Sen. Akpabio put up a lot of effort to provide the APC more votes than the legally allowed 25% in a PDP-controlled state like Akwa Ibom.
“The Us4Us Movement leadership now resolves to endorse and call for Sen. Akpabio to be elected as the Senate President of the upcoming 10th Legislature.

“We urge on the overwhelming majority of elected Senators to galvanise their support for Akpabio’s Senate Presidential aspiration,” he stated.
Romanus continued, “The leadership of the APC should zone the position of the Senate President to the South-South area in the interests of equity and growing the party in the South South geopolitical zone.”
He mentioned that the Us4Us Movement had a strong belief that Akpabio would do the finest job of protecting the interests of young people, particularly those in the South-South geopolitical zone.
“On the basis of his unmatched performance history and dedication to the party and the people of Nigeria, we, the members of Us4Us Movement, today overwhelmingly adopt and support Akpabio for Senate President.
He urged “other elected members of the upcoming 10th Senate and the leadership of the APC to massively support Akpabio in the spirit of fairness, credibility, and competency.” (NAN)
