Northern Governors at Odds with Tinubu, Says Bauchi Governor
Bauchi State Governor claims Northern governors are not on good terms with President Tinubu, hinting at political tensions and unresolved issues within the region.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has urged President Bola Tinubu to reevaluate his administration’s policies in order to more effectively tackle the challenges faced by everyday Nigerians.
During a courtesy visit from a delegation of Islamic clerics led by Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, Governor Mohammed voiced his concerns that the current national policies are not producing the desired outcomes for the people.
He called on the president to stay attentive to the challenges faced by Nigerians, stressing that policies should prioritize citizens’ well-being. The governor remarked, “President Tinubu must heed the concerns of Nigerians he has pledged to serve.”
Governor Mohammed urged the president to draw lessons from past errors and focus on initiatives that enhance the quality of life for citizens.
Mohammed said, “Consider the Tax reform policy. Naturally, no government can function without revenue; if its sources of income were obstructed, it would be impossible to operate.”
Continuing his remarks, the governor mentioned that it is well-known that Northern governors do not have a good relationship with the president.
He stated, “I’m sure you’ve heard about our disagreements with the president. Yes, it’s true; we’re in conflict because our people are suffering and the president has ignored us.”
The governor also informed the scholars that he had previously considered meeting with Sheikh Jingir to discuss the issue.
Governor Mohammed remarked, “You are part of the select few who can discuss this issue with the president. He is one of those who value your counsel.”
