Joe Igbokwe backs the impeachment of Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, citing years of strained relations with Governor Sanwo-Olu as a key factor in the political shake-up.

Joe Igbokwe, a leader within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed support for the removal of Hon Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Reports indicate that on Monday, assembly members impeached the Speaker due to alleged numerous statutory and financial infractions.

Subsequently, Mojisola Meranda Ojora was elected as the new Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

In response, Igbokwe swiftly posted on his Facebook page to voice support for the impeachment, asserting that the beleaguered Speaker had not been collaborating with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the state governor.

He announced, “The action has been carried out in LAHA! Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has been impeached as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly due to gross misconduct and abuse of office. Hon. Mojisola Melanda Ojora is now serving as the new Speaker.”

In a comment on his own post, the APC leader stated, “He relentlessly criticized Governor Sanwo Olu for years. Every effort to convince him to collaborate with the Governor was ignored. Numerous interventions by GAC members were ineffective.”
