Gov Sani Relieves Kaduna’s Internal Security Minister Samuel Aruwan of Duties

Governor Uba Sani has removed Samuel Aruwan from his position as Kaduna’s Internal Security Minister in a significant cabinet shake-up.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has significantly reshuffled his cabinet, resulting in the dismissal of Samuel Aruwan, who was the inaugural Commissioner for Internal Security.

This information was included in a statement released on Saturday in Kaduna by Ibrahim Musa, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor.

According to reports, Nasir El-Rufai, the state’s former governor, appointed Aruwan as the first Commissioner for Internal Security in 2019 when the ministry was established.

Prior to being assigned to the security ministry, Aruwan served as the Senior Special Assistant on media to the governor from 2015 until 2019.

Earlier in October, the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) requested that the state government suspend Aruwan and three others due to alleged breach of trust.

PR Nigeria reported that on November 8, Mr. Aruwan faced a trial with six charges related to alleged false asset declarations. These allegations involve omitting and refusing to disclose his accounts with specific Nigerian banks before assuming his role in the security ministry.

James Atung Kanyip was appointed as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in his place.

The governor has also appointed several other commissioners: Ibrahim Mohammed as the new Commissioner for Finance; Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, taking on another role as Commissioner for Finance; Barde Yunana Markus, who will serve as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs; Farida Abubakar Ahmed positioned as Executive Director of Radio at Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC); and Vitus Azuka Ewuzie stepping in as Senior Special Assistant for Legal Matters.

The appointments also include Francis Damina as the Senior Special Assistant for Research and Documentation, Victor Mathew Bobai as the Senior Special Assistant for Public Affairs, Abdulmutallib Isah as the Senior Special Assistant for Special Duties, and Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim as the Special Assistant for Economic Matters.
