Arsenal delivers a stunning 5-1 victory against Crystal Palace in the EPL, with Gabriel Jesus shining with a brilliant double.

Gabriel Jesus increased his goal count against Crystal Palace to five in just four days, helping Arsenal decisively defeat their London rivals 5-1 at Selhurst Park on Saturday and regain third place in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace will likely be tired of seeing the ex-Manchester City forward, who netted a hat-trick against them in the League Cup quarter-finals at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Jesus scored two goals in the first half on Saturday and was nearly awarded a third, but his attempt hit the post. Fortunately, Kai Havertz reacted swiftly to score from the rebound.

Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, who had equalized the score at 1-1, missed capitalizing on two promising chances early in the second half.

Instead, Arsenal scored two more goals, reclaiming their position above Nottingham Forest after being overtaken by them earlier in the day.

However, Mikel Arteta—celebrating his five-year tenure at Arsenal—will be concerned after Bukayo Saka left the field limping midway through the first half.

In the sixth minute, Jesus confidently scored his first Premier League goal since January, capitalizing on excellent play by Saka from the right wing.

However, Palace equalized just five minutes later when Sarr received a pass from Tyrick Mitchell, positioned himself and expertly curved the ball beyond the reach of a diving David Raya.

Arsenal’s second goal was the result of a corner, as Jesus expertly directed the ball off the post and into the net with remarkable accuracy when it came to him.

Full of confidence, he struck the post in the 38th minute, allowing Havertz to follow up with a tap-in.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Sarr had a chance to score with a diving header from close range, but Raya managed to get low and make the save.

Raya was back in action just minutes later, saving Jean-Philippe Mateta’s powerful long-range shot and securely catching Sarr’s header on the rebound.

However, Palace couldn’t close the gap, and instead Arsenal widened their lead—once more Jesus had a chance to complete his hat-trick.

Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson stopped the Brazil international, but substitute Declan Rice managed a solid connection with the ball, allowing Gabriel Martinelli to score from close range.

Rice scored in the 84th minute to make it five, curling a shot from the edge of the box into the far corner.

On Friday, Arteta remarked that the “best is yet to come” as he celebrated his five-year anniversary at the Emirates. He stated his ambition of pursuing the “big trophies.”

The Gunners, who haven’t clinched the Premier League title since 2004, are currently just three points behind leaders Liverpool. However, Arne Slot’s team has played two fewer games.
