Following that, I became interested in customs service, and CS recently found twenty containers packed with foreigners, which they planned to meet at a port on a nearby tincan island port Apapa Lagos.

The product, estimated to be worth 1.6 billion naira, was purportedly consumed in twenty containers and, in spite of the owners’ false claims that it included almonte shells, Nigerian customer service offices declared it safe for human consumption.

While the appropriate government agencies are making great efforts to stop foreign product vendors from operating in the nation, some patriotic citizens nevertheless sneak foreign items into the nation, putting the public’s health at risk.

This raises serious concerns. It is awful that so many Nigerians don’t check product expiration dates and that a large number of imported food items have entered the nation’s market. Food that has gone bad can have a serious negative impact on your health, including injury to your vital organs.

Additionally, it may result in food poisoning, which can induce cramping, burning sensation in the abdomen, difficulty swallowing, and diarrhoea. CL headaches and oral fever are two examples of symptoms. Greek physicians hold that a person’s health is mostly determined by his or her nutrition, regardless of how well-nourished they are.

Certainly, what we put into our bodies is reflected in the way we behave on a daily basis. Around 390 BC, Hippocrates—who is regarded as the father of medicine—developed a medical advice that is still used as a standard court letter and established a direct connection between diet and medicine.

Food is medicine, and medicine is found in food. While the Nigeria Customs Service’s efforts to stop the smuggling of counterfeit goods into the country are praiseworthy, a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the importation of Matzo concentrate that has expired is required, and those found guilty will be subject to the full weight of the law. Countersmuggling activities may also result in improved border coordination between different government agencies and adjacent countries.

This entails exchanging intelligence, improving communication, and coordinating efforts to locate and stop illicit goods.

To prevent those with dubious intentions from using the country’s borders to smuggle anything they want into the country, the national authorities should address how strict they are.

It should also take pride in the well-being of the law enforcement officers manning the nation’s borders, as this will uplift morale and promote effective service delivery. To ensure that they are not buying anything that has not been authorised by the national agency for food and drug administration and control, consumers should check product expiration dates at the time of purchase.
