Following his team’s Carabao Cup Round of 16 victory over Liverpool on Thursday night, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola singled out teenager Rico Lewis for praise.

Lewis was fantastic for Man City against Liverpool, according to Guardiola, who also said that the Premier League champions are fortunate to have him on the team.

Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo missed the high-profile game after representing their nations at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup; therefore, Lewis was given the start at right-back.

Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez, and Nathan Ake scored goals to help Man City beat Liverpool, which was led by the 18-year-old.

At the Etihad, Jurgen Klopp’s team did score thanks to Fabio Carvalho and Mohamed Salah.

Guardiola told Sky Sports, “The academy boys did incredibly well in the first half.”

“I haven’t seen a performance like Rico Lewis’ in a very long time.

He is 17 or 18 years old and has faced huge talents up front, like Liverpool.

We are tremendously fortunate to have this player for the next ten years, given the manner in which he played both with and without the ball.

The game he played was amazing, so maybe the club can accept him.
