Why Manchester City defeated us 3-2 in the Carabao Cup: Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has explained why Liverpool lost to Manchester City 3-2 in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

The five-goal thriller favored Pep Guardiola’s City, and Klopp attributed the loss to the Reds’ defense, saying all the goals they gave up were “totally unjustified.”

Holders At the Etihad Stadium, Liverpool was eliminated from the competition after allowing the Premier League champions to advance to the quarterfinals thanks to goals from Erling Haaland, Riyad Mahrez, and Nathan Ake.

In Klopp’s opinion, all of the goals scored by the home team were avoidable.

“We used a formation we hadn’t used in a long time… we needed time to adapt,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“We had serious issues in the first 15 minutes, which somewhat sapped our confidence and conviction.”

The ambitions that we gave up were totally unnecessary.
