Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury, leaving a major gap in the team’s attacking lineup.

Bukayo Saka will be out of action for “many weeks” due to a hamstring injury sustained during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace, announced manager Mikel Arteta on Monday.

During a press conference, when questioned about the condition of the 23-year-old England international, Arteta stated: “The situation doesn’t look promising. He will be sidelined for several weeks.”

On Saturday, Saka was seen departing Selhurst Park on crutches, casting a shadow over what had been an impressive second victory against the Eagles in just four days.

After the match, Arteta mentioned: “He experienced some discomfort in his hamstring and couldn’t continue playing. He needs to be evaluated, so I’m quite concerned about that situation.”

He additionally disclosed on Monday that Raheem Sterling had sustained a knee injury and would be sidelined for several weeks.

Arteta was questioned about concerns regarding Saka not returning before the season concludes.

“No, I’m not worried,” he said. “I’m very optimistic that he’ll return before the end of the season.”

The Spaniard commented that it was an aspect of a player’s development.

“It could have been far worse. It might have been something that sidelines you for an entire year,” he remarked.

“How you respond and handle the situation is crucial, and it’s a valuable learning experience for him too.”

“It is the situation we have to accept. He’s injured, and that’s beyond our control. We’ll focus on using this time to support his recovery.”

Saka is an essential part of Arsenal’s offense, having scored five Premier League goals and contributed 10 assists this season. His absence will be significantly noticeable.

Arteta mentioned that he was “developing some strategies” to manage without the winger.

“We experienced the period with Martin (Odegaard) and the time when we were missing five or six defenders,” he said. “We’re approaching it with positive energy.”

Arsenal, having been Premier League runners-up for the last two seasons, will host Ipswich—who are battling against relegation—on Friday.
