Zulum Gifts ₦30m to Family of Army Officer Killed by Boko Haram

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum donates ₦30 million to the family of an army officer killed by Boko Haram, advising them to use it to purchase a home.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has donated N30 million to assist the family of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Ebisingha Alari, who was recently killed during ongoing operations against Boko Haram insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle.

On Saturday in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum personally presented the donation to the officer’s wife. He offered his condolences to the grieving family and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by soldiers fighting insurgency in the region.

“Although we sent a high-level state government delegation to the funeral yesterday, I felt it was important for me to personally offer my condolences on behalf of the state’s government and its people,” Zulum stated.

He added, “I would like to express my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the fight against terrorism in Borno and throughout the northeast.”

The governor stated that the financial support would assist Lt. Col. Alari’s family in purchasing a home, as he had been informed that Alari did not own one personally.

“We are providing a token donation of N30m to Lt Col Alari’s immediate family for the purchase of a house, as I understand he does not own one. Rest assured that beyond this contribution, we will continue to support you and the families of our fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives in defense of our country,” Zulum stated.

Top military officials, such as Major General Waidi Shuaibu, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, and Major General Chieiebere Ejike, the Sector 2 Commander, attended the presentation.

Among the other dignitaries in attendance were Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan; House of Representatives members Engr Bukar Talba and Ahmed Jaha; senior state government officials, including Deputy Chief of Staff Engr Babagana Malumbe; various Commissioners; Mustapha Ali Busuguma, Permanent Secretary of Government House. Also present was Special Adviser on Security Brigadier Gen. Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq (Rtd) and the Chairman of Damboa Local Government, Ali Mohammed Kauji.
