Woman Receives Jail Sentence for Scalding Co-Wife with Hot Water

Faith Felix, a 28-year-old housewife residing in Gosa Toge, Abuja, has been sentenced to eight months in prison by a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada.

She was found guilty of criminal force, assault, and causing grievous hurt after pouring hot water on her co-wife.

Despite pleading for leniency, the court handed down the sentence and warned Faith to refrain from such actions and maintain good behavior.

The court proceedings revealed that Stella Jecus, the complainant residing at the same address, reported the incident to the police on May 2.

According to the prosecuting counsel, Dabo Yakubu, Faith intentionally poured hot water on Stella while she was asleep, without any apparent reason.

During the police investigation, Faith admitted to deliberately committing the act, leading to her conviction.

The Senior Magistrate, N.A. Turkur, sentenced Faith to eight months imprisonment without the option of a fine.

This punishment was in accordance with the provisions of Sections 267, 268, and 247 of the Penal Code.

The court’s decision serves as a stern warning to Faith and emphasizes the seriousness of her actions.
