According to a genealogy investigation, Joe Biden’s ancestor possessed a 14-year-old kid who was held as a slave.

According to a Tuesday report by Reuters, five of the six currently serving US presidents are the direct descendants of slaveowners.

The exhaustive analysis, which was published just days after the nation observed the federal holiday known as “Juneteenth,” which honors the liberation of African Americans, reveals that Donald Trump is the only living current or previous US head of state who has no ancestry in slavery.

The research claims that Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter are all sprung from slaveowners. The study, which looked at the extended genealogies and census information of those who hold the positions of power in Washington, found that Obama’s ties to slavery are on his mother’s side of the family.

According to the article, census data shows that in 1850, Biden’s great-great-great grandpa owned a 14-year-old boy who was a slave. Regarding Biden’s alleged ancestry with slavery, the White House made no remarks.

According to Reuters, two decades after slavery was outlawed by the US Congress, Trump’s forefathers immigrated to the US from Germany in 1885. The analysis also discovered that two sitting US Supreme Court Justices, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch, as well as 11 of the 50 governors of US states from the previous year have similarities with slavery.

According to the analysis, Republicans in Congress are around three times more likely to have ancestry connected to slavery. These numbers indicate Republican support in the South, which by the time of the US Civil War in the 1860s had a significantly higher concentration of support for the slave trade than the North. Of the GOP contingent, 28% have such affiliations, compared to 8% of Democrats.

The study also demonstrates that the forebears of US lawmakers were among the richest citizens at the period, with 75% of them being ranked in the top 10% of Americans prior to the abolition of slavery.

According to survey results released by Reuters/Ipsos in connection with the study, 23% of respondents said they would be swayed by a candidate’s ancestors’ involvement in slavery. According to the research, Democrats are more likely than Republicans to abstain from voting for such a candidate.
