US President Donald Trump has asserted that his victory in office played a crucial role in preventing World War 3, sparking fresh political debate.

U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that his election win was crucial in averting World War III. He has suggested that if former Vice President Kamala Harris had been elected last November, a worldwide conflict would have emerged within a year.

At an event organized by the Future Investment Initiative Institute in Miami Beach on Wednesday, Trump emphasized his wish to be remembered as “a peacemaker and a unifier.” The non-profit organization hosting the event is managed by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund. During his remarks, Trump identified resolving conflicts in both the Middle East and Ukraine as primary goals of his foreign policy agenda.

“There’s no benefit for anyone in a World War III, and you’re closer to it than you might think,” Trump informed the audience. “Had this administration continued for another year, we would have been embroiled in World War III by now. Fortunately, that won’t happen.”

In his farewell address at the State Department last month, former President Joe Biden stated that the primary objectives of his administration were to “unite global support and protect Ukraine” as well as to “prevent conflict between two nuclear nations.”

Trump has accused Biden and his administration, including Harris, of significant incompetence. He frequently contends that if he were in power, the tensions concerning Ukraine would not have escalated into an armed conflict.

Earlier this week, high-ranking officials from Russia and the United States convened in Saudi Arabia to discuss mending relations that had become strained under Biden’s leadership. Trump praised Riyadh for its role in facilitating these discussions, describing them as highly successful and highlighting his administration’s endeavors to address the Ukraine crisis.

This diplomatic engagement has caused tension between Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, who emphasized that negotiations about the conflict should not proceed without Kyiv’s participation.

During his speech, Trump criticized Zelensky, calling him a “dictator without elections” and accusing him of depleting American resources instead of pursuing diplomatic solutions with Russia. He implied that Zelensky is intent on maintaining the current flow of aid by stating he “wants to keep the gravy train going,” and cautioned that if action isn’t taken swiftly, Ukraine might not remain intact for long.

Zelensky had earlier accused Trump of repeating ‘Russian disinformation’ concerning his low approval ratings in Ukraine, pointing to a survey by a Kiev-based pollster that showed public support for him. In response, Trump asserted that he was referring to “real Ukrainian polls.”
