Tinubu is the president of Nigeria, not the APC – Wike
President Bola Tinubu is the president of Nigeria, not the president of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
When APC leaders from Rivers, led by Mr. Victor Giadom, National Vice Chairman of the APC, South South, paid him a visit in Abuja on Thursday, Wike made this statement.
On the other hand, he asserted that the president was entitled to prioritise the interests of his political party when managing national matters.
He noted that political parties were means of transportation that led to a desired destination and that, in President Tinubu’s opinion, Nigerians’ interests came first.
““After emerging, Mr. President is the president of Nigeria, not the APC.
“No one can stop him from taking the interests of his political party into consideration while he governs Nigeria; it is only natural.”
“Every Nigerian must gain from governance.
“We have to realise that the party is merely a vehicle that transports you to a destination; once you reach your desired location, you exit the vehicle,” he stated.
According to the minister, President Tinubu possesses the ability and political resolve to take actions that others would be frightened to.
In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling upholding Tinubu’s election, Wike declared: “We have an obligation to support Mr. President, regardless of the political party he represents.
“I praise God that the struggle has finished to His glory and I stand for equity, fairness, and justice.

He declared, “Since we are all citizens of the Nigerian state, it is crucial that we all recognise that the Nigerian state is not owned by any one individual or group.
“I am here for Nigerians; I am here for those who belong to a political party and those who do not belong to a political party,” the minister declared, reiterating his pledge to act without bias.
Giadom had earlier stated that the purpose of the visit was to express gratitude to the minister for the significant help he provided to the APC presidential candidate during the election.
Based on his sincere desire for justice, equity, and fairness for the Nigerian state, he encouraged him to keep going in the direction of the administration led by Tinubu and the success of Nigeria.
He affirmed his faith in Wike’s ability to perform, describing his appointment as the first for a resident of Rivers.
Giadom continued, “We were also visiting Tinubu to express our gratitude for assigning a Rivers family member to lead the activities of the “exalted office.”
“I implore you to use your extensive background and performance history to the performance of your responsibilities.
“For our part, we have guaranteed the president of the Rivers APC’s allegiance and support in achieving his renewed hope agenda.
“We sincerely hope that more Rivers sons and daughters—especially those in the APC who put in a lot of effort to realise the renewed hope agenda—will be granted more positions of responsibility at the national level as a result of this visit,” he stated.
