Tragedy strikes in Kazakhstan as a passenger plane crashes, with many feared dead. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident amidst rescue operations.

A devastating accident involving an Embraer 190 aircraft has been reported near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.

The aircraft, under the operation of Azerbaijan Airlines, had 67 individuals on board—62 passengers and five crew members.

Preliminary findings from Kazakhstan’s emergency ministry indicate that 25 individuals survived the crash, with 22 of them receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals.

Azerbaijan Airlines Flight J2-8243, en route from Baku, Azerbaijan to Grozny, Russia, was diverted because of heavy fog. The aircraft crashed and caught fire upon impact; however, emergency responders have since extinguished the flames.
