The unstable Niger Republic may be brought back to democracy through conversation and diplomacy, according to former House of Representatives member Shina Peller.

Peller, who served as the federal representative for Oyo State’s Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency in 2019 and 2023, stated this on Friday.

The Ayedero of Yorubaland revealed this information in a statement provided to OBASANJO NEWS24 by his media assistant, Kola Popoola.

The former congressman asked the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which is headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to continue stepping up its diplomatic efforts.

He continued by saying that this will aid in the peaceful restoration of democracy in the nation.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was also praised by Peller for taking heroic steps to maintain peace in the Niger Republic.

Sanusi is a strong and inspirational leader who aspires to change the world, according to the former congressman.

“Dialogue and diplomacy are the best tools needed to restore democracy to the Niger Republic,” Peller added.

“I implore the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which is presided over by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, to continue stepping up its diplomatic efforts to bring about a peaceful return to democracy in the nation.

“HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, is certainly an inspirational leader who transcends national boundaries. This outstanding Leader bravely acts in the midst of the unrest in the Niger Republic, uniting peoples for peace.

“Being a leader involves more than just holding office; it also entails accepting responsibility and having a positive influence. It involves taking action to effect change even in trying circumstances and motivating others to follow suit.
