The State House allocates a significant ₦15.09bn in the 2025 budget for vehicle tyres and the construction of an office complex, sparking public interest and scrutiny.

The State House has allocated N15.09 billion in the 2025 Appropriation Bill for a range of expenditures, which include buying tires for bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, operational vehicles, and ordinary cars.

The allocation also covers the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.

Furthermore, the budget proposal allocates N5.49 billion for the yearly upkeep of the Presidential Villa.

The newly released 2025 Appropriation Bill by the Budget Office of the Federation, unveiled on Thursday, disclosed substantial financial allocations for presidential operations and infrastructure in the country.

According to Platinumpost, President Bola Tinubu delivered a budget titled “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity” to the National Assembly during a joint session on Wednesday. The proposed plan outlines an ambitious expenditure totaling N49.70 trillion.

The budget focuses on defence, infrastructure, and human capital development, anticipating a deficit of N13.39 trillion to be covered by borrowing.

In his address to the National Assembly, Tinubu emphasized that his administration is dedicated to enhancing security and revitalizing the country’s infrastructure.

According to the appropriation bill document acquired by our correspondent, N164 million has been allocated for the State House—the administrative center of the executive branch—for purchasing tyres for bulletproof vehicles, regular cars, jeeps, platform trucks, and other utility and operational vehicles.

From the total amount, N1.1 billion was allocated for replacing SUV vehicles, while N3.66 billion was designated for purchasing operational vehicles for the State House.

It was stated that N127.86 million will be allocated for purchasing SUVs for the President and Vice President, with this expense being covered by the Office of the President.

Likewise, N285 million is allocated for purchasing motor vehicles under the office of the President’s Chief of Staff, while the Chief Security Officer to the President received an allocation of N179.63 million for acquiring security and operational vehicles.

Additional examinations revealed that NGN 2.12 billion was designated for honorariums and sitting allowances, along with a proposed budget of NGN 1.83 billion for constructing an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers.

Remember that the 2025 Appropriation Bill, currently under review by the National Assembly, designates N4.91 trillion for defense and security. Meanwhile, infrastructure will receive an allocation of N4.06 trillion to fund projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.

The President additionally revealed substantial funding for education and healthcare. A total of N3.52 trillion has been allocated to education, covering Universal Basic Education initiatives and the establishment of nine new higher institutions. Meanwhile, the health sector is set to receive N2.48 trillion aimed at enhancing healthcare systems and supplying essential medications to public hospitals.

The budget is grounded on essential economic assumptions, such as an anticipated decrease in inflation from 34.6% to 15%, along with a strengthening of the naira exchange rate from N1,700 per dollar to N1,500 per dollar.
