Ooni’s Ex-Wife, Others Face Allegations Over Ibadan Funfair Tragedy That Claimed 32 Children’s Lives

Tragedy strikes at an Ibadan funfair, leaving 32 children dead, as Ooni’s ex-wife and others come under scrutiny for their alleged sponsorship of the event.

Former Queen of the Ooni of Ife, Prophetess Naomi Shikemi, along with Oriyomi Hamzat, a broadcaster from Ibadan, have been accused of funding the unfortunate funfair in Ibadan that resulted in the deaths of several children.

It was reported that approximately 32 children lost their lives in a stampede during the event held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

The incident took place in the Bashorun area of the city during the early hours on Wednesday.

In his response, State Governor Seyi Makinde stated that the organizers are already in custody.

He stated that “the main organizers of the event, which resulted in this stampede, have been taken into custody while investigations continue”.

While the governor did not disclose who organized the event, new reports indicate that Prophetess Naomi and Hamzat were its sponsors.

In response to the unfortunate incident, Agidigbo FM’s management, owned by Oriyomi Hamzat, clarified that the radio station served solely as a media partner for the event.

Amidst the tragedy, reports are circulating that Agidigbo FM is responsible for organizing the children’s funfair.

The management of Agidigbo FM clarified in a statement, “Agidigbo FM is not the organizer of the event but serves as one of the media outlets used to promote it.”

Reports indicate that the victims were trampled to death while attempting to force their way through the main gate of Islamic High School in Bashorun, where the event occurred.
