In a statement released Monday afternoon, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga conveyed President Tinubu’s message, praising the singer for her distinctive artistry that has once again brought pride to Nigeria on the global stage.

The presidency stated that the “new generation of young and multi-talented Nigerian musical artists” have driven “Afrobeats to international prominence, enhancing the country’s reputation as a hub of musical innovation, creativity, and cultural influence.”

“Tinubu noted that the Nigerian music industry, especially Afrobeats, has emerged as a source of national pride by promoting identity and self-expression while bringing people together across borders—from Africa to Antarctica, Asia to Australia, and Europe to the Americas.”

Although several Nigerian artists, including Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, Davido, and Burna Boy received nominations in various categories, it was Tems who secured an award. Nevertheless,Tinubu expressed pride in “these patriots for putting Nigeria on the global map of great achievers in the music industry and showcasing the country’s creative excellence.”
