In Osun State, animosity exists between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) camps ahead of the Election Petition Tribunal’s decision today over the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

Adegboyega Oyetola, a former governor, had contested Sen. Ademola Adeleke’s victory in his plea to the tribunal presided over by Justice Tertse Kume.

In 749 voting locations, he said there had been excessive voting, and he questioned the legitimacy of the winner’s certificate.

The tribunal’s notice of ruling was made public by its secretary, David Umaru, and was included in a piece of paper that was pasted up in front of the tribunal on Tuesday.

Members were instructed to begin a seven-day fast and prayer period by the APC’s state leadership in order to obtain favourable results. Before today’s verdict, Tajudeen Lawal, the acting chairman, preached nonviolence.

Residents have been told by the police leadership that their lives and property are secure.
