Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State has responded to a remark attributed to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to OBASANJONEWS24, Jonathan stated on Friday that if Governor Duoye Diri, the PDP’s candidate, had not been reelected, he would have moved his mother to Abuja.

Speaking during his visit to Diri in Yenagoa, Jonathan praised the governor for tackling the issue of insecurity in the region.

However, Sylva responded to the remarks on Saturday night by calling the former President’s remark “unfortunate” in a post on his X Twitter.

“The remarks made by former president Goodluck Jonathan are regrettable,” he stated. I really hope that quote was incorrect. You can take the hippopotamus out of the swamp, but you cannot take the swamp out of the hippopotamus, to paraphrase our esteemed Wole Soyinka.

According to OBASANJONEWS24, Sylva, a former Bayelsa governor, served as Muhammadu Buhari’s immediate prior administration’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.
