Police uncover gruesome crime as a suspected ritualist lures a young woman under the guise of a ‘hookup’ and beheads her. Investigation underway.

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Taiwo Yemitan for his suspected involvement in ritual killings, following the discovery of a freshly severed human head and dismembered body parts at his home in Abeokuta’s Lafenwa area.

SP Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, stated that Yemitan was apprehended early on Sunday morning at his residence near Atinsola Petrol Station. This arrest followed a tip-off from local security groups such as the Agbekoya and vigilante operatives.

“The suspect confessed to being acquainted with the deceased, Darasimi, and admitted luring her to his home with plans of murder,” stated Odutola. “He acknowledged his role in the killing and implicated two others as accomplices in their scheme to sell her head and other body parts.”

The police have reported that efforts are underway to arrest the accomplices and identify the victim’s family. Meanwhile, the remains have been placed at the General Hospital morgue in Ijaye, Abeokuta for further examination.

Odutola stated that the suspect would be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for thorough investigations.

Odutola also mentioned a similar case from earlier in the year, involving a suspect named A. Adebayo, who confessed to murdering three women he had drawn in through hookup arrangements.

She cautioned young women to refrain from engaging in hookups and instead focus on being content, noting that many girls involved in such activities are tragically harmed or killed for ritual purposes.

She encouraged parents to care for their daughters and provide them with comprehensive training to prevent them from becoming victims.
