Suspected gunmen attack the Kogi community, killing a number of the residents.
Many people were reportedly killed when suspected gunmen raided the town of Ejule in Kogi State’s Ofu Local Government Area.
The wife of a local youth leader and a commercial motorcycle rider, known as a “okada rider,” were allegedly slain in the attack, according to a resident of the town who left as a result of the incident.
“At this time, I am unable to disclose the total number of fatalities. An okada rider and the wife of a well-known teenager in the town have been positively identified as having died in the early morning attack.
“The situation is still tense, but more dead bodies are being seen on the streets. On the phone, a local told our correspondent that “no one can leave right now.”
SP William Aya, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), did not return his calls.
