Garki, Jabi, and 28 other slums that had previously been assessed by the Federal Capital Development Authority before this government have been given the go-ahead for demolition by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.

Around 6,000 buildings that have been marked in an effort to clear the region of shanties and illegal constructions will be affected by the demolition, according to the FCTA.

30 regions around the Federal Capital Territory would be impacted, according to the FCTA.

After being sworn in as Minister on Monday, Wike, the recently-resigned governor of Rivers State, promised to reinstate the FCT’s master plan. He also promised to destroy all errant buildings and said his administration was prepared to put an end to property speculation.

The FCT’s master plan, he claimed, has been perverted by unauthorised buildings in Abuja’s open spaces, promising to have them razed. He claimed to have travelled around the FCT during the night to observe things for himself.

The Federal Government may demolish at least 6,000 illegal buildings scattered throughout 30 districts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“We will reclaim our land and give it to those who want to develop it,” said Wike. “You must sign that you must develop at such and such a time.”

Muktar Galadima, the director of the FCTA Department of Development Control, stated that a new survey would nonetheless be carried out.

Since the most recent poll was conducted in February of 2022, we would find time to conduct another one.

Following information verified by the FCTA indicates the following areas are designated for demolition:
